[Background]
Background for Sollux
All about Trolls!

[Personality]

First and foremost Sollux is an introvert! He also suffers from debilitating bouts of bipolar mood swings. Despite trying to act like a cool kid most of the time, he really is quite emotional. He has issues with opening up to people though and as such if people bring up one of his problems he's quick to get defensive and tell the person to butt out of his business.

In a good mood he can be friendly as he knows how to be, which is to tease his friends. He can also be be confident in himself almost to the extreme of being egotistical. He is also capable of being an arrogant dick in the extremes

In a bad mood Sollux is unsure of himself. He hates himself for everything he's done and no one can tell him otherwise. He's a failure, he killed his entire race, he couldn't protect his friends. Those who try to comfort him are just lying to him. He has no motivation like this and no patience to talk to anyone as well.

His mood swings are normally sudden and he tends to jump back and forth between them before settling on one or the other. It may or may not get to one of the extremes.

Generally how Sollux is, or how his middle ground between mood swings is indifferent. Again, he doesn't open up to many people. If he likes someone he'll humor them and talk. If he doesn't like the person he'll most likely ignore them or act hostile towards them to get them to back off. Hostile for Sollux however normally means a lot of sarcasm.

If you can break through Sollux's front he really is kind. He wanted to save his planet and worked hard to adapt the game for his friends to play so they could. The game actually was the cause for the destruction of their planet, but it is the thought that counts. He also saved a princess he hardly even knew while going through agonizing pain. He was determined to get her into the game before he died. He succeeded of course but at the cost of his own life.

Now that Sollux is blind and he was freed from his vision twofold and the screams of the dead first off he's relieved. Hearing screams of the dead 24/7 in his head does not do good on the nerves. Stack that with his bipolar disorder and it makes sense why he was so moody and on edge before.

He no longer has those voices though, he can finally have peace in his own mind. As such he's a lot happier with life. He's still himself. He can still whine just to whine, be an ass, moody, etc. There just isn't so much of an edge constantly on him to push him to those things.

[Abilities]
Sollux used to be a high level psionic. He used to hear the screams of the imminently deceased in his head pretty much as a constant, he had telekinesis, he had something called vision twofold that let him see his planet's looming annihilation, he was able to put someone to sleep with a snap of his finger, and finally he was able to shoot beams of psychic energy from his eyes as well as concentrated energy balls from his hands.

He used to have a lot of awesome abilities, but after going blind he has lost these.
In canon we know he is freed from his vision two fold and no longer hears the voices in his head. The other abilities haven't been mentioned as being gone yet in the comic, but it's implied that they are gone as well. I'm playing him as he has lost all his abilities as implied.

He's just useless and blind now.

[Other important stuff]
Sollux recently went blind! As in this will be his first time conscious being blind. He's pretty 0k with it truth be told but it will be a real learning curve for him in Somarium. Until he is able to do audio to text translations he won't be typing.
When he is able to do those his speech will be translated into this quirk:
s0mething like this.

[Sample post]
[First Person]
[The video clicks on to show... an ear? Black hair? Whoever it was must have mistakenly left the video option on when they really wanted to make an audio post. At least that was the most obvious guess with how the dreamberry was being held like a phone.]
Hello? Can anyone hear this?

[Not even sure it's going to post to the network, but oh well we're rolling with it la de da.]

Well, I was just wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to get a walking cane? If I'm going to be stuck here it's kind of a huge fucking deal that I'm able to get around without tripping over everything. I'm ok with not tripping over everything.

[There's a bit of a pause before what sounds like the start of another sentence. It's quickly dropped though and the video clicks off. ]

[Third Person]
He could hear the chirping of birds off in the distance as he stood outside and took in the breeze. They were everyday things, things that people generally didn't pay attention too. Sollux used to be like that actually before he lost his vision. Now a days it was what he used to connect himself to reality.

After all the time he has spent in Somarium thus far, he hadn't a clue what any of it looked like. He was still getting used to even making his way around the place while blind. It was definitely harder then he thought it would be. Sure he knew he couldn't see shit that was simply a cold fact of life now, but he had blind friends before that made it seem easy. Before coming here he was hoping Terezi could teach him how to see by smelling or whatever she did.

She wasn't here though, so he had to learn to get around on his own. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he had to rely on other people all the time. He knew he was useless, but that didn't mean he wanted to be.

So here he was cautiously walking around Espoir with his walking cane. He had no real destination to go to, he just wanted to get away from the city. The city reminded him the most of home, but it was no place to go walking while blind. There was too many people and too much noise for him to concentrate.

The lack of noise. That was his favorite part of this whole blind business. As soon as he went blind the voices and screams in his head stopped. He finally was given relief from an endless assault to his mind. Finally given the peace he deserve--

His dreamberry was ringing, snapping Sollux from his thoughts. He swore to god if this was Karkat bugging him about where he was going to punch something. Well if he could see he would punch something... or not. Now that he was thinking about it, it was a pretty dumb thing to do. He wasn't even that upset about getting a call. Still, he didn't need Karkat acting like he was his lusus even if it was kinda cute in a retarded way.

"Hello? Who is this?"

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Sollux is a fun character for me to play and I want to explore him coping with his new disability.
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] No playercest because I think playercest is silly. Reminds me of the term selfcest. :9 And then that applied to Sollux makes me laugh.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] Friends who apped to the game!
[Any questions?] Nope, not that I can think of.
